We had a free day today that Carol and I used to tour the area called the Alpine Scenic Loop (SR-92). It is a narrow and windy road that branches off of Provo Canyon above Provo and Springville. The Fall colors here are pretty different than the colors that I grew up with in the Northeast (Mass.). There, each leaf from the same tree turns a different color than its neighbor and there is a large variety of colors. Here, in the mountains of Utah, there are two types of tree that turn color. The aspen trees all turn the same shade of yellow and all scrub-oak trees turn the same shade of red. The red and yellow is mixed with the dark green of the evergreen trees and you have a spectacular display. We love it.
