The mission of the GMC Western States club is to “promote the preservation of the classic 1973-78 GMC Motorhome” and we need ideas - and volunteers to help, of course - to refine them and make them happen.

During our recent membership renewal drive a member told me he was debating whether or not he would join this year because he didn't plan on attending either of the GMCWS rallies. My first inclination was to argue that his membership fee had nothing to do with rally attendance - it was to help us pursue our mission. While I was considering that argument I could not come up with any example to help persuade him, and that got me thinking about the whole thing.

It seems to me that, other than rallies, we need to identify activities than will encourage ownership of GMCs.  We can do that by introducing people to them that may not know much about them, and also by helping connect potential owners with current owners who are retiring from using their GMCs.  As far as introductions are concerned, we suggested entering coaches in local car shows and even approved paying the show entrance fees for GMCWS members who entered their coaches - but have not gotten any participation so far.  It seems as though some help with selling GMCs that were no longer used would be a way to connect potential new owners with sellers.  We have also discussed the possibility of producing a pamphlet or flyer that would "sell" the GMC and providing that to GMC owners (members or not?) who would hand them out as needed.  We have money in our club treasury that we could use for such things if we feel that they would be effective.

Suggestions for making these ideas work and whatever other ideas may be out there are what we are looking for.  If you have a suggestion let us know - either by commenting below (you must be a member to do that) or sending us your suggestions via email at "armand@minniebiz.com".  Let's hear from you.
