The GMC Western States Rally at Nk'Mip (pronounced Inkameep)
Resort in Osoyoos, B.C. is scheduled for Sept 15-19, 2003. The
27 acre lakefront resort is on Lake Osoyoos. There is a clubhouse
with seating for 150. Nk'Mip Winery and Native Heritage Center
are within walking distance. We will say our good-byes on Saturday
Sept 20 and all head off down the highways.
Osoyoos, B.C. is located on the USA-Canada border on Highway
97. This highway begins in Weed, CA and proceeds north through
central Oregon and Washington. The Resort is located 1 1/2 miles
east of downtown Osoyoos. Take Highway #3 east to 45th St. and
turn left. Watch for GMCWS signs.
The Osoyoos area is at the southern end of the Okanagan Valley.
It is advertised as having Canada's only desert. Yes, there are
cactus, sand, and rattlesnakes. This area is a very popular summer
vacation spot with warm sunny weather. September temperatures
are low 45 F. high 71 F. and the mean 59 F. A very productive
agriculture industry produces a variety of fruits with grapes
being the focus. There are many wineries in the area.
If you plan to arrive early or stay after the rally, contact
the resort for reservations at 250-495-7279 or www.campingosoyoos.com.
Internet reservations are preferred. There is another large group
leaving the day before we arrive, so there is no guarantee that
your early site will be your rally site.
